Politicians to support
Pushing for electoral reform
Strategy
By always recommanding voters to support a particular politician, we hope to promote the issue of election reform. By doing this consistently and in an organized fashion, such politicians will see a significant boost to their support rate. By the time the politicians we support regularly reach the level where they can consistently spoil an election, the two major candidates will start to notice the issue and respond to it.
Country per country information
Have a look in the index if there is a page for your country. Every candidate/politician we know about and who fit the policy outlined below will be listed there. We need your contribution to find out who supports better voting systems in any country, in any elections. You can help tremendously by gathering the related information, and communicating it to me (by private message or by posting a message in the Agora). I will then publish it in the relevant page.
Eventually, everything will be stored in a data base that users will be able to consult and update. I am still thinking how to organize it. Meanwhile, there is not so much information that I cannot deal with it by hand...
Politicians endorsement policy
Here is an outline of the policy we use to decide which politician to endorse in elections:
- Do they support either Condorcet or Approval?
- Is there a politician whose sole platform issue is electoral reform and adoption of Condorcet or Approval (so as to attract a wide range of voters who may disagree on other issues)?
- If no such politician exists, are there any politician supporting IRV or any other form of electoral reform?
- Among those politicians, which seems the most sincere when supporting the issues that concern us? Which ones are more active is promoting electoral reform?
- Among the most sincere and active candidates thus selectionned, which one is the biggest in terms of support (in opinion polls or past election results).
Note that we do not support Instant Runoff Voting.
This is a first draft. Let me know how it can be phrased better and made clearer.
