USA Libertarian Party

Voting Method platform

The Libertarian Party doesn't have any mention of electoral reform in their platform. Unlike the Green Party candidate, they don't make of voting systems such an important issue.

Libertarian Party nominee for the Presidential election, Michael Badnarik, however has spoken out in support of IRV and Approval.

He is currently the only US presidential candidate I know of who has publicly supported either Approval or Condorcet. Sure, his party doesn't consider this an issue important enough to have included it on their official platform, but the fault of this should be laid on the voters themselves who have so far never expressed a strong desire for the best possible voting system.

By the time small parties realize that there is a growing support for Condorcet, they will start to respond more officially to this type of expectation.

Of interest

The beginning of the campaign trail, a chat session: a chat I had before I published my endorsement for Badnarik in the US 2004 Presidential Election. The reaction and questions of my chat partners, some of which Libertarian, are interesting.
